SPICE VILLAGE ADVENTURE

05 Nights / 06 Days at Periyar, Kerala


Day 1: Arrive Spice Village by mid-day or late afternoon. No doubt it's been a very exciting drive through the winding mountain roads fringed on both sides by Greens of all hue - Dense forests of rubber, carpets of tea plantations, pockets of cardamom and coffee bushes.

Explore the resort and try to identify the different Spice that grow in the village or take a dip in the pool if it's not too cold.

Recommend an early dinner and bed.

Day 2: Early breakfast and reporting at the boat landing on Lake Periyar to cross over to the starting point of the trek. After about two hours of hard walk, you hop on to a country raft (it's just bamboo poles bound together) paddled by tribal boatmen. Absolute silence is the secret and soon you will be able to witness wild animals strolling down to take a drink from the lake. If it's your lucky day, sightings could include Elephants, Bison, Bore, Samba, Hyena and of course different bird species.

Tigers being very shy of humans are very rare sightings but one never knows… After about three hours on the raft, head back to firm land and walk back to civilization and Spice Village. It's been a long day and you deserve to put your legs up and enjoy a tall cooler.

Day 3: This morning you could decide to stay back and enjoy the pool at Spice Village or go out on a Spice Plantation Visit. The tour will take you through Pepper and Cardamom plantation and get to see and hear all about those two amazing gifts of nature. However, be prepared to begin your next Adventure late in the evening.

1900 Hours depart Spice Village armed with a flashlight and once again Trek through the forest. The "Night Safari" is for about 4 hours. However, if you want to, it could be for the whole night. Get back to Spice Village in the late night (or early morning).

Day 4: "Ready When You Are" select your preference which include:
1. Visit to a Tea Plantation and Factory.
2. Picnic to Annakara Village.
3. Cycle Expedition to Kumily town and surroundings.

But again you must leave the hotel for your "NIGHT OUT IN THE JUNGLE". This time it's a one-hour Trek to the old forest lodge where you will spend the night. An unforgettable experience and worth the little discomforts.

Day 5: This would be your last day at Spice Village. Do as you please.

Day 6: Depart Spice Village and Periyar.

USEFUL TIP
We recommend cotton kakhi's, strong walking shoes, hat and a spray of insect repellants. Light woolens for the Night Adventure is also recommended.
